Can you get a lower price on airline tickets by using your browser's incognito mode to shop?

I read something online the other day about how using your browser's incognito mode when you are looking for airline tickets can help you get a better price. Is this really true? If so, why does it work?

The main issue I see with this is that even in incognito mode, it's just not tracking you through cookies or keeping any history on you[1]. That means you're not really seeming to come from another place, so it probably won't save you anything.

What you may want is to use a proxy server[2] to make it look like you're shopping for tickets from elsewhere. I'm guessing the goal is to make it look like you're in another country or something so it seems cheaper in their currency. You'll have to seek out the legalities of using proxies to get better deals or seem like you're somewhere else for other reasons.
