When do quarterly earnings reports come out?

+2 votes
I know that public companies are required to publish quarterly earnings reports, but I don't know when they come out. Do all companies post them on the same date, or does it vary from company to company?

Public companies tend to follow patterns with regards to 'quarterly earnings'. They will follow the fiscal calendar and report back to investors every three months or so on an established date [1]. However, this does not mean all public companies are bound by such regulations and have to release mandatory statements. Some prefer to follow their own timelines and stick to those [2].

It is pertinent to gauge the different dates and move forward from this point as an investor.  All public companies will have their dates listed, which can be located and written down in your calendar. Make sure to do this before investing further.

Those who invest in public companies tend to stagger their investments based on when the reports come out as this is the time when dividends are paid out as well. It is essential to keep this in mind.
