Grey aliens are supposed extraterrestrial beings that are commonly reported in UFO encounters and alien abductions. They are short, humanoid creatures with grey, hairless skin. They usually are reported as lacking ears or noses, and have large, black eyes. Their heads are also unusually large for the size of their bodies.
This is the most commonly reported type of alien, with 43 percent of all encounters involving greys. The first time that such aliens were reported was in the famous Betty and Barney Hill incident of 1961, where they were supposedly abducted after encountering a UFO while driving home from a vacation.
They are frequently portrayed in movies and TV shows about aliens and UFOs. For example, they appeared at the end of the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977, as well as on episodes of The X-Files in the 1990s. The author Whitley Strieber has written a number of books about his encounters with greys, such as Communion, which was made into a movie starring Christopher Walken.
