Here are some of the cat breeds that shed the least amount of hair:

Sphynx. These hairless cats are ideal for people who suffer from allergies since they don't have any hair to shed. They may have a slight amount of peach fuzz on their bodies, but overall they are pretty much free from hair. That means that you don't have to spend time cleaning up piles of hair around your house, and you don't have to worry about aggravating allergies. You do, however, have to periodically give these cats baths to remove oil from their skin. [1]

Korat. The korat is a medium gray cat with beautiful yellow-green eyes. Originally from Thailand, these cats are often regarded as a symbol of good fortune. Korats are extremely low maintenance in terms of grooming. They just need to be periodically brushed. They are known for their minimal shedding, which makes them ideal for people who don't want to deal with cat hair or who have allergies. [2]

Cornish Rex. These unusual looking cats are easily recognizable - not only for their large eyes and bat-like ears, but also for their short, curly coats. The coat lacks an outer protective layer, which makes these cats incredibly soft to pet. They shed very little, which makes them a good choice if you are looking for a cat with a low-maintenance coat. [1]

Devon Rex. Like the Cornish Rex, Devon Rex cats have curly coats. Although these cats do shed a small amount, their fur is so fine that it won't show up on furniture or clothing. Their coats are extremely low maintenance. In fact, generally just running your hand over them when you pet them is enough to keep them well groomed. [1]

If you love cats, but don't want to deal with the ever-present fur that often comes along with such a pet, check out the following breeds.

1. Cornish Rex. While this type of cat does shed, in comparison to other animals, there is very little hair for owners to deal with. They are a great family pet, as they like to play, jump and interact with their human friends.

2. Korat. Those with allergies often prefer the Korat, because it can be petted without shedding. The Korat is very smart and may not mesh well with all personality types.

3. Siberan. These cats are well-known for their beautiful coats, so many people (erroneously) assume that they shed a lot. Nothing could be further from the truth.
