As of December 5th, 2015, an actual autopsy and official cause of death may be several weeks yet to come. What is known at this time is that Weiland was found dead of cardiac arrest on a tour bus in a parking lot of a hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. Another band member was arrested for having cocaine in his possession. Weiland had a history of substance abuse, and that may have contributed to his demise.
Weiland first came to prominence in the early and mid 90s as the lead singer of the alternative group Stone Temple Pilots. Later, he was involved in the collaborative project Velvet Revolver with a number of former Guns'n'Roses members.
