"Pokémon Blue Version" and "Pokémon Red Version" are going to be released true to the original Game Boy versions for the Nintendo 3DS. "Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition" will also be released.
The only major change to the games will be the multiplayer features. Trading and battling will be different due to the differences in hardware between the Game Boy and the 3DS. Instead of the original Game Link Cable, players will be able to trade and battle Pokémon through the 3DS's wireless capacities.
All three games will be available in the North American Nintendo eShop on February 27, 2016.
These re-releases for the Nintendo 3DS are to commemorate Pokemon's 20th anniversary. While the North American versions of Pokemon Red and Blue Versions for Game Boy were created in 1998, the original Japanese Red and Green Versions for Game Boy were created in 1996.
