As someone who had to wear a school uniform during middle school, I know a little about this subject! I'll let you know what the benefits and what is not so great about them.
Intruders Are Easy To Identify
When you go to a school with uniforms, it's easier to tell who the teachers are and whether or not people are on the campus that shouldn't be.
Everyone Is More Equal
Some children do not have access to all of the latest and greatest styles and uniforms make it so everyone is wearing the same thing. This tends to keep kids from picking on each other over what they wear.
Mornings Are Simple For Parents
If you always have to help your child pick out their clothes, then you know that it can be a pain at times. They may not want to wear what you'd like them to, or they just are difficult sometimes. With uniforms there really is no room for a discussion on what to wear which most parents will see as a benefit.
Uniforms Can Be Boring
Really the main con of having kids wear uniforms is that it can take away from them being individuals. While they keep schools more organized and safe, they do take a little away from kids because nobody is able to show off their personalities through their clothing.
They Cost Money
Uniforms are an investment that doesn't go beyond te few years a child is at school. Because they are pretty specific, they can't be worn for other purposes later on and that means they are pretty useless after school is over and done with.
Uniforms Are Not Good For All Body Types
When you have to select from a limited set of clothing options, you are going to find that not everything fits every child. This can cause them to have negative body image issues, and that is not good during a time when kids are developing.
