Interruptions are an inevitable part of any work experience, yet they can take up to 45 minutes to really recover from back into a state of productivity. While not all interruptions are preventable, the overall amount can be reduced with some of the following steps:
1) Plan for it. Know that interruptions are going to happen. Block out time to deal with others and problems that come up, but also block out time where you have set personal boundaries and don't let things get in your way.
2) Come in early or work from home. The sooner you start something in a day, the less interruptions there are to get in your way. If you can do something from outside the office, you have a lot more control over your environment.
3) Turn off or tune out electronics. Close background programs that are not necessary, disable notifications, and even put your phone on airplane mode.
