If you show up for jury duty, but are not selected for a trial, you can be called again in 18 months [1]. However, if you do serve on a trial, you will not have to serve for at least two years.

If you are summoned for jury duty at a time that is inconvenient for you, you may postpone your service [2]. You have this option one time per summons; you may be able to get a second deferment if you have a valid reason, but there are no guarantees.
