IBS or irritable bowel syndrome is a gastrointestinal condition that is characterized by abdominal discomfort and pain. There is a range of other symptoms associated with this condition such as intermittent abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation or alternating episodes of both, stomach cramps, and bloating. The symptoms can vary according to the individual and can affect a person more severely than others. The exact cause of this disease is not known as yet. Most medical experts believe that the condition is related to increased sensitivity of the gut. If you think that you have IBS symptoms, it is best that you consult a healthcare provider to diagnose the condition and start treating the symptoms.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or spastic colon is a common disorder that affects the large intestine (colon). It is characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits.

Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS affects mostly women. Only a small number of people with irritable bowel syndrome have severe signs and symptoms. Some people can control their symptoms by managing diet, lifestyle and stress. Others will need medication and counseling.
